On Tuesday, about 4 days after coming home, Aiden had his first doctor's appointment. We were really nervous about it because his pediatrician at Loma Linda told us that if he lost weight between coming home and his first appointment, he might have to go back to the NICU. So we made sure that he was eating enough and kept offering him more at each meal to make sure he was full. When his new doctor weighed him, he weighed in at 8 pounds 1.5 ounces, 12.5 ounces more than the day he was discharged! We couldn't believe that he had gained that much, and neither could she! She said that his cheeks and his double chin were too big for his skinny body! Needless to say, we didn't have to worry about returning to the NICU!
The past few days he has just started to grow before our eyes, physically and personality-wise. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how fast he's already growing. When he falls asleep in my arms, it is really a struggle for me to put him down. I don't know if this whole hospital experience has scared me so much that I'm afraid that if I put him down something will happen, or if all moms experience the same feeling. I realized today how terrified I am that something might happen to him. He is perfect and beautiful and we are so incredibly blessed to have him!
Here are a few pictures of him during tummy time and just 'playing' on his mat. Everyday he is more alert and observant of his surroundings!
