Aiden's Homecoming

Last week Aiden's doctor finally came back into town and decided that he was ready to come home. We were obviously excited, but a little nervous at the same time! On Friday, April 3, we packed up the hotel room that had been our home away from home for the past two months and headed back to Ridgecrest. The drive seemed to take forever, especially for me since I hadn't been home since abruptly leaving on February 11. When we got home it was an amazing feeling, but also a bit overwhelming. There were so many things that we needed to do and so many things that needed organizing. But most importantly, we finally got to spend time alone together, something that we had never done before! Our little family of three (plus Shiloh) was finally complete and something we had only dreamed of for months.

We are loving every minute of having Aiden home. I don't even mind getting up in the middle of the night to feed and rock him. It's definitely the best feeling in the world knowing that he belongs to us! On Friday night Aiden finally got his first real bath and loved it! He was so tired that he fell asleep in the process! He has been so alert and loves looking all around at his new surroundings; something he hasn't really done much of before. Yesterday we took our first short walk around the neighborhood as a family, and Shiloh got to go, too. She has been great with him so far; a sniff here and there is about all the attention she pays to Aiden, which is good. Hopefully life as she knew it before I went into labor--walks everyday, lots of attention, lots of treats, etc.--will return within the next few days once our routine is figured out! Andy is taking the week off to help me establish the routine and get all of this baby stuff figured out. He has been great and we are both learning as we go, praying that we always do our best and put Aiden's needs before anything else. Speaking of, I hear a hungry cry coming from his crib...
