One year has passed since we were blessed with the most precious gift ever, Aiden Michael McEvoy! He came in with a bang and it’s been an incredible ride so far! We can’t even begin to say how much joy he has brought to our lives and how much fun we are having with him!
Last Friday he took his first steps! Since then he has continued to take steps, but he's still too scared most of the time to walk; he'd rather just take a couple of steps and then crawl the rest of the way. The past month or so he has mastered waving, throwing balls (and all other objects!), and pushing buttons on his toys to get them to work. Anytime music is playing he ‘dances’, waving his arms up and down and bounces or rocks back and forth—it is so cute! He LOVES books and would rather read instead of play when we are in his room. He is really good at turning the pages and does it on command. He still loves being outside, so we spend lots of time walking, swinging or sliding in the backyard, and going to the park. He also really enjoys being around other kids. We had a few of his friends over recently, and he had a ball! He plays hard, but he also still loves to cuddle with us. We know that this time will pass all too quickly, so we savor every moment. We are so incredibly blessed!
We took him for one of his checkups at Loma Linda recently, and the doctors were again very impressed with his skills. Physically he is on track with other twelve month olds, and we will wait and see if his language and cognitive skills are on track as well. We also took him to see his pediatric surgeon at Loma Linda last week, and unfortunately, he will have to have surgery in the next few weeks to correct his hydrocele (that is now considered a hernia). Please keep him and the doctors in your prayers and we will keep you updated on his progress!
We spent the week of Aiden's birthday in Steamboat, just to get away and so Andy could do some snowboarding. It was, as always, a wonderful vacation. Enjoy our pictures of his big day!
